Fixing-up R2-D2, Part 1

This week it’s time to do some work on my life-size R2-D2. In my rush to get him up on his legs, I made some decisions that, well, I just couldn’t live with (a lot of duct tape was involved).

In this episode I work on:

  1. Adjusting the spacing between the dome and the body. My spacers were way too big.
  2. Creating a solution for my utility arms. Since I’m not using servos, they simply fell back into the body when R2 was at his angle. Yikes. I crack open Fusion 360 and put my 3D design skills to the test! Check it out!
